Varatec Monastery is one of the largest monasteries of nuns in the country, around 400 monks living today in the monastery village consisting of 180 houses. The monastery museum preserves a valuable cultural-artistic and historical heritage, made up of authentic churches, objects of worship of precious metal, old icons, embroidery, carpets and priestly vestments. It is the place where the tomb of Veronica Micle is located and where the poet Mihai Eminescu has arrived on several occasions, passing the "copper stones" and "the silver forest"
