The Petru Vodă Monastery was founded in 1991 in the Poiana Hașca in the Stânișoara Mountains by Archimandrite Iustin Pârvu, in memory of those who suffered in communist prisons. The wooden church was completed in 1992 and was painted between 1994-2000 in tempera technique by the painter Mihai Gabor in Byzantine style, both inside and outside. The access is through a forest road, a derivation from the village of Petru Vodă, situated on the left side of the direction of walking, from Poiana Largului to Târgu Neamț.
