Red Lake is a natural dam lake formed after the collapse of a slope in 1838. Locals also call it Lake Ucigaș (Gyilkos-to in Hungarian), both names based on the legend according to which when forming the lake, the rocks crushed a shepherd with his flock of sheep, the waters of the lake being then red from their blood. Tourists are attracted to the area by the fresh air, rich in aerosols, but especially by the landscapes offered by the mountain and by the water of the lake where the trunks of the trees in the forest covered by water are still visible.
